⭐️Reminder to students who are 12 years of age and older and their families registered for the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine through the recent PCS survey⭐️ The CDC approved the use of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine in kids as young as 12 on Wednesday, May 12, 2021, and US health advisors also endorsed the use. Additionally, the American Academy of Pediatrics urges the Pfizer vaccine for kids 12 and up. If you did not complete the initial PCS survey but would like your child to receive the vaccine, walk-ins will be accepted from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. You may register on-site at HHS. Additional Reminders: ✅ Present an insurance card when checking in at the vaccination clinic. ✅ All students must complete a consent form, and a parent/guardian must be present with any student 12-15 years of age. 📝 Note: Your school office has the consent forms to be completed prior to the vaccination clinic. The consent forms may also be obtained on the PCS website (located and linked on the home page bulletin board) at www.putnamschools.com. 🗓 The follow-up vaccination clinic will be held on Friday, June 4, at HHS from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

As we begin to see winter weather advisories affect our region, we would like to outline three potential scenarios Putnam County Schools will implement during inclement weather events. PCS Inclement Weather Procedures for Schools If a Two-Hour Delay is called: • Each school will open (2) hours later than the normal hours of operation. • Professional staff and service personnel will report to their school locations (2) hours later than their normal arrival time. • Each bus route will be delayed by (2) hours using the 2020-2021 bus schedules that have been in place since September 2020. • Students will report on a (2) hour delayed schedule per school level. • WVVS students will follow the daily schedule in place. If an Onsite Remote Instruction Day is called: “Onsite Remote Instruction = Students Remote – Staff Report” • Professional staff and service personnel will report to their school locations (2) hours later than their normal arrival time. Bus operators and bus aides will report to their assigned schools utilizing the same procedures in effect for the 2020-2021 school year when Putnam County Schools have been operating remotely. • Buses will not operate for any students. • No students will report to school. This includes those students who previously reported when PCS was in remote status. However, remote instruction will begin for students two hours late. • Families should review their child's Schoology account for school bell schedule and further instructions. • Curbside meal service will be offered at each school utilizing the same hours in effect for the 2020-2021 school year when Putnam County Schools has been in remote status. Buses will run main roadways only for meals that have been requested by families. • WVVS students will follow the daily schedule in place. If an Offsite Remote Instruction Day is called: “Offsite Remote Instruction = Student Remote – Staff Remote” • Students will not report to schools. Remote instruction will begin two hours late. • Teachers will begin instruction 2 hours late from home/remote location. • WVVS students will follow the daily schedule in place. Families can find information regarding their student’s schedule(s) in the event of a remote instruction day due to inclement weather on Schoology as well as their school’s website. For further questions on PCS’ inclement weather procedures and scenarios, please contact your student’s school.

“TalentEd” is PCS’ New Online Application Program! The PCS Personnel Department has some exciting news concerning an easier way for employees to view and bid on open positions. PCS is leaving the paper bid sheets and applications with 2020 and ushering in a more convenient process with 2021. Beginning on January 7th, you can conveniently view PCS job openings online in one of three easy options! 1️⃣ Visit TalentEd, Putnam County Schools’ application program at https://putnamschools.tedk12.com/hire/index.aspx 2️⃣ For your convenience, a link to the program will be added to the PCS Connect App and PCS website at www.putnamschools.com by selecting the menu button, opening the employment tab, and then clicking on the TalentEd link. 3️⃣ You can also scan the QR Code for direct access to the program. On TalentEd, you can see current job openings and also where online bids (applications) can be submitted for any positions that are of interest. First-time users will need to build a one-time profile by clicking on the “Internal Link” at the top-right edge of the page in the blue ribbon. From there, bidding on open positions is a simple as clicking the “Apply” button, confirming your information, and submitting. After submitting a bid (application), a confirmation email will be sent to the email address you supplied. As of January 7th, paper bid sheets will no longer be needed or accepted. PCS is very excited about this new development and hopes you will be too! Please contact the PCS Personnel Department if you have any questions or need assistance at 304-586-0500 extensions 1109 and 1108 or via email at wrinick@k12.wv.us or damartin@k12.wv.us. #PutnamProud

As families of PCS students or employees, we encourage you all to take the following actions to continue to be aware of your or your student’s health. It’s important to remember the incubation period for COVID-19 (14 days). A negative test result after exposure does not automatically or always mean that you or a student may return to school. Please refer to the PCS COVID-19 Incubation Timeline to see why it’s important to quarantine after exposure. As a precaution, consider postponing plans, such as playdates, family visits, and extracurricular and social activities for the next 14 days.
