🗓 CALENDAR ADJUSTMENT FOR INCLEMENT WEATHER ❄️ The OS Day scheduled on Monday, February 17, 2025, will be converted to an instructional day for students. This will not extend the calendar for students or staff. If the school system is forced to close for a seventh or eighth day, students would report to school on Friday, February 28, and/or Monday, March 3. Any additional school closure would result in students reporting to school on any remaining OS Day on the current school calendar for June.

Putnam County Schools will operate on a TWO-HOUR DELAY on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. Please be aware that the following bus routes may experience issues and may be unable to complete their full runs on certain secondary roads. Updates will be provided if/when more information becomes available. POCA AREA: Harmons Creek Limeberger Road

PES: Tutoring is cancelled today, Tuesday, January 21st. Students will be dismissed according to their regular dismissal.

PES: Please be aware that the following bus routes may experience issues and may be unable to complete their full runs on certain secondary roads. Poca: Heizer and Harmons Ck. If the bus cannot make the full run, and cannot pick-up your child, then the driver will notify the office for an excused absence due to bus transportation. However, it is also helpful to send a note to the office to ensure the absence is not missed and excused. If the bus does not run, and you opt to bring your child to school, you are also required to pick them up at dismissal. If the bus cannot run the route in the morning, it is likely they will not be able to run it in the afternoon.

During bad weather, if you'd like your child picked up in front of the school, please call 304-755-7561 before 2:15 p.m. tomorrow afternoon and we will hold them at the front entrance. Once buses depart, you can pick up your child at the front entrance. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!

Reminder: 2-Hour Delay at PES Dear PES Families, This is a reminder that school will be operating on a 2-hour delay tomorrow. Our doors will open at 9:15 AM, and all students must be in the building by 9:45 AM. Please note the following important details for morning drop-off: Drop-off is in the driveway in front of the school, NOT in the Poca Library lot. As we saw last week, traffic during inclement weather can be challenging, so please plan accordingly to ensure your child arrives on time. Staff will be on duty and will enter the building when the bell rings at 9:45. After that, parents will need to accompany their child into the building for sign-in. Thank you for your cooperation and stay safe!

3rd - 5th Grade Families: Information with the criteria for our annual STAR GALA, which is held each spring to honor those students who excel in academics, attendance, and DOT expectations was sent home today with our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. Please carefully review this criterion with your child. We look forward to hosting this special event to celebrate student success!

Morning Drop-Off Recommendations Dear Families, If you've been in the morning drop-off line this week, you're likely aware of the traffic issues we’ve been experiencing. With inclement weather, we typically see an increase in parent drop-offs, which can further slow the process. To help expedite drop-off and ensure a smoother flow, please keep the following recommendations in mind: 1. Be Prepared: Have your student ready to exit the vehicle as soon as you pull up to the designated drop-off area. This will help reduce delays. As you approach the staff on duty, please say your goodbyes in advance, have your child unbuckle/out of the car seat, have their bookbag on and other supplies ready, and the staff on duty will help them exit the vehicle. The exit from the vehicle needs to be quick. 2. Stay in the Line: Please remain in the drop-off line and DO NOT pull around other vehicles unless directed by staff to do so. 3. Adults on duty will enter the building at 7:45 when the bell rings. If the adults on duty are not present, you must park and sign your child in at the office. 4. No Parking in the Drop-Off Zone: For safety reasons, please do not park in the drop-off lanes. If you need to walk your child into the building, please park in a designated space. 5. Be Patient and Courteous: We understand the weather and traffic can be frustrating, but we ask that everyone remain patient and courteous to ensure the safety and well-being of all students. Thank you for your cooperation and for helping make morning drop-offs run more smoothly.
